Difference between ceramic brake pad and metal brake pad

[Catalog:News] [Date:2022-2-11] [Hits:] [Return]

The difference between ceramic brake pads and metal brake pads is that the materials are different. Ceramic brake pads do not contain metal components. The metal brake pad technology is very mature, and the friction coefficient can be adjusted in a large range. Therefore, many vehicles with heavy vehicle weight still use metal formula brake pads when leaving the factory.

However, the disadvantage of the metal formula is that it will fall off. If the friction coefficient of low metal is relatively large, the incidence of noise will be relatively high. The main advantages of ceramic brake pads are better noise control and no dust falling. The original factory uses some Japanese and Korean cars because the weight of the car is relatively small and the friction coefficient is not high. However, the ceramic formula also has disadvantages, The friction coefficient of ceramic formula is relatively low.

However, with the increase of temperature, the friction coefficient can remain relatively stable, but if the rear wheel is a drum brake pad, there is no need to consider ceramic or metal, because there is no big difference. Ordinary brake pads are made of semi-metallic and less metallic materials. The brake pads made of these materials have low high temperature resistance, easy to rust, easier to break the brake disc, produce noise and poor comfort.

Ceramic brake pads are mainly characterized by strong braking force, high temperature resistance, good thermal stability and low wear. Their performance is far better than that of ordinary brake pads used by some foreign high-speed brakes. The long-term service temperature is 1000 degrees, which makes ceramics suitable for the high-performance requirements of various high-performance brake materials and can meet the technical requirements of high-speed, safe and high wear resistance of brake pads. Ceramics have good thermal stability, low thermal conductivity and good wear resistance
