The difference between brake discs and brake pads, do they need to be replaced together

The braking system of a car is a very important thing, which is a safety guarantee for us when driving. In our daily driving life, we often use brakes, which rely on the friction between the brake discs and pads to reduce speed and braking. Many friends may confuse them and wonder about the difference between brake discs and pads. Let's take a look together.

The brake disc, also known as the brake disc, is a disc shaped disc made of metal material with many air holes. During the driving process of a car, it will rotate with the tires, and the brake caliper will clamp the brake disc to generate braking force, playing a role in slowing down or stopping. The braking effect of brake discs is good and easier to maintain than drum brakes.

Brake pads, also known as brake pads, are made of ceramic, metal, and carbon fiber materials and are installed in brake calipers. In a car's braking system, brake pads are the most critical safety component, and the effectiveness of braking is determined by the brake pads. Brake pads are generally composed of steel plates, bonded insulation layers, and friction blocks. When the brake is applied, they will be squeezed onto the brake disc or drum, creating friction, thereby achieving the goal of vehicle deceleration and braking.

Do you want to replace the brake pads and brake discs together
In general, brake pads and brake discs do not need to be replaced together. The replacement cycle of brake discs is longer than that of brake pads. Under normal driving conditions, the front brake pads need to be replaced every 30000 to 50000 kilometers and the rear brake pads need to be replaced every 60000 to 80000 kilometers. The front brake disc needs to be replaced every 60000 to 80000 kilometers, while the rear brake disc only needs to be replaced every 100000 kilometers. That is to say, replacing the brake pads twice requires replacing the brake discs once. Developing a habit of regular inspection and timely maintenance is the best.
