The newly replaced brake pads squeak

[Catalog:News] [Date:2023/5/4] [Hits:] [Return]
Reason for the squeaking sound of the newly replaced brake pads:
1. The contact between the brake pads and the brake disc does not match, and the old brake disc was not polished when installing a new brake pad, resulting in a mismatch in installation. This will cause the chip to directly rub against the uneven surface of the old disc, ultimately leading to uneven wear of the new brake pads.
Solution: Measure the thickness of the brake disc at different positions using calipers. If it exceeds the allowable tolerance range, the brake disc needs to be replaced.
2. The brake system itself has defects, causing the brake pads to only partially come into contact with the brake disc, which can increase the pressure on the brake per unit area and cause abnormal noise.
Solution: It is recommended to go to a professional repair shop to investigate the problem with the brake system.
3. The quality of the replaced brake pads is poor, the material is too hard, and there are many metal impurities inside. After replacing the brake pads, it is necessary to apply a few foot brakes to eliminate the gap between the brake pads and the brake disc, in order to avoid accidents caused by the first foot not braking.
Solution: Try to achieve the best braking effect after the break-in period. If it still doesn't work, we can only replace it again.
4. Improper installation of the brake system caused abnormal noise.
Solution: This situation is quite complex. It is recommended to go to a professional repair shop and find a repairman to take a look.
5. The noise generated by friction between the brake disc and the brake pads due to uneven and grooved surfaces.
Solution: The brake disc needs to be replaced.
6. The brake pads are not suitable. If the new brake pads do not match the brake caliper during assembly, friction and abnormal noise will occur.
Solution: In this case, the brake pads should be removed and reassembled.
7. There are foreign objects in the brake pads. If the car passes through muddy pits, pebbles, and other impurities, they may adhere to the brake pads, causing mutual friction and making abnormal noises.
Solution: Just clean it again.
8. The brake shock absorber is loose and installed incorrectly. If it is suitable for installation, it is normal for the brake pedal to be loose. Pressing the brake can cause a shaking sensation, which is caused by the vehicle's ABS activation and is a normal phenomenon.
Solution: The tightness of the brake pedal cannot be adjusted, and loosening the brake pedal is a normal phenomenon. If the installation is incorrect, it needs to be reinstalled.
9. The fixing screws of the brake disc are missing or excessively worn, which do not match the brake pads and produce abnormal noises.
Solution: It is necessary to reinstall the fixing screws.
10. Under normal circumstances, when a new brake pad is worn in, there may be a squeaking sound when the brake is pressed. Car owners should not worry too much, as this is caused by the brake pad not being worn in properly. Generally, after the burn-in period, this squeaking sound will automatically disappear.
