What is the reason for the brake pad noise?

[Catalog:News] [Date:2023/4/21] [Hits:] [Return]
Reason for brake pad noise:
1. The quality issue with the new brake pads is that the use of inferior brake pads causes abnormal noise.
Solution: It is necessary to replace the good brake pads, such as ceramic brake pads;
2. The new brake pads are not chamfered before assembly. Due to the tens of thousands of kilometers of running in between the original brake discs and pads, a groove that perfectly matches the width of the old brake pads will be worn out on the brake discs. When replacing a new brake pad, its width does not match 100% with the brake pad, so it is easy to compress with the brake disc at the corner, resulting in a howling sound.
Solution: It is necessary to polish the edges of the brake pads to ensure that they do not rub against the brake discs.
3. The circlips were not replaced at the same time, and there are circlips on the brake pads that are used for fastening. The structure and quantity of the circlips vary among different models. Replacing or not installing the brake pads at the same time can cause slight shaking in the caliper. Under strong braking force, the caliper will make a strange noise even if there is a slight movement.
Solution: Replace the brake pads while replacing the circlip.
4. No noise reduction grease was applied. The function of noise reduction grease is to form a layer of high-temperature resistant and elastic grease between the back of the brake pad and the caliper, thereby eliminating the vibration transmitted to the brake pad during braking, thus eliminating noise.
Solution: When replacing the brake pads, it is necessary to manually reapply the silencer grease.
5. There is debris between the brake disc and the brake pad. When replacing the brake pad, if there is a hard impurity sandwiched between the brake pad and the brake disc, it will generate noise due to the high-strength friction between the two.
Solution: Clean the debris between the brake pads and brake discs during installation and keep them clean.
6. The brake wheel cylinder cannot return to its original position. If the brake oil is not replaced for a long time, or the internal workmanship of the brake wheel cylinder is not precise, over time, it will cause the piston to rust and the components will not return to their original position.
Solution: Check the brake wheel cylinder and replace it in a timely manner if it cannot return to its original position.
7. New car break-in period. The brake pads and discs of the new car are in a brand new state and are still in the running in period, which is a normal phenomenon.
8. The installation of the brake system is not standardized.
Solution: The brake system should be readjusted.
9. The brake wheel cylinder is rusted. If the brake oil is not replaced for a long time, the brake oil will deteriorate, and the moisture in the oil will rust the wheel cylinder, causing friction and abnormal noise.
Solution: Just replace the brake pads with new ones.
10. The brake pad material is too hard. Brake pads are generally made of semi metal material, which can easily cause friction and abnormal noise between them.
Solution: It is a normal phenomenon.
