[Catalog:News] [Date:2021-5-12] [Hits:] [Return]

As everyone knows, brake pads are an important part of car safety. Today, I'd like to talk about brake pads so that you can have a deeper understanding of your car.

What are brake pads

Brake pads are also called brake pads. In the automobile brake system, the brake pad is the most critical safety part. The brake pad plays a decisive role in the quality of all braking effects, so a good brake pad is the protector of people and the automobile. The working principle of the brake is mainly to use the friction between the brake pad and the brake disc (drum) and the tire and the ground to convert the kinetic energy of the vehicle into the heat energy after friction and stop the vehicle. If the brake fails, the consequences will be unimaginable.

How often do the brake pads change

Generally, it is recommended to replace the brake pads every 40000-60000km. However, due to different materials of brake pads, different driving habits, different road conditions and different frequency of using brakes, the wear of brake pads will be different. In addition, the wear degree of the front and rear brake pads of the same car may be different (generally, the front brake is worn fast), and the automatic gear and manual gear may be slightly different (the brake will be released frequently when the automatic gear is in traffic jam).

How to judge whether the brake pad needs to be replaced

1. Look at the thickness

The simplest way is to look at the prompt of the instrument panel. When the indicator light of the brake pad is always on, the brake pad needs to be replaced in time. We can usually observe the thickness of the brake pad more, so that we have a clear idea. Usually, the thickness of a brand new brake pad is about 1.5cm. If the thickness of your brake pad is less than 0.5cm, you should consider replacing it. Because of the angle of view, there are still errors. Sometimes it's hard to see the inner brake pads, so you can try to ask the master to take a look every time you come to the 4S shop for maintenance.

2. Listen to the sound

Measurement and inspection is the safest way, but some phenomena can also indicate the wear degree of our brake pads. When you gently click the brake and hear the creaking metal friction sound, it may be that the brake pads have exceeded the service limit, so be sure to check as soon as possible.

3. Feeling strength

When you step on the brake pedal, you need to step deeper to achieve the original braking effect, and the braking effect in the first half of the journey is obviously weakened. This phenomenon may be caused by the problems of the brake pads, or the problems of the brake pipeline, etc., and there are many reasons involved. So try to see, see is true.

What kind of brake pad to replace

The materials of brake pads are different. The common ones are semi-metal brake pads, asbestos free organic brake pads, ceramic brake pads and so on. For most of my friends, it's OK to choose the same material and specification as the original factory. Using qualified brake pads with excellent performance can provide excellent braking effect and help us avoid unnecessary risks when braking frequently and with full force. The poor brake pads not only have poor braking effect, but also have the danger of fracture, detachment and fire when braking frequently. It is recommended to go to a regular 4S store for replacement, so as to provide more security for your own safety.

Seeing this, I believe that the car owner's friends have a certain understanding of the brake pads. In the future, they can check them first and then decide whether they need to replace them. However, car owners should also pay attention to the fact that the brake pads can be self checked and should not be replaced by themselves, because it requires certain professional skills and tools,
