What Material Is The Best Brake Pad?

[Catalog:News] [Date:2021-4-28] [Hits:] [Return]

Everyone is familiar with the brake pads. When they are almost worn, they need to be replaced. Otherwise, there will be a great potential safety hazard.

In the automobile brake system, the brake pad is the most critical safety part. The brake pad plays a decisive role in the quality of all braking effects, so a good brake pad is the protector of people and the automobile.

Then some people have a question: what kind of material is a good brake pad? There may be a lot of people will answer "ceramics" in unison, but it is not. Next, I will explain the mystery to you in detail.

Brake pads

First of all, we need to understand the structure of brake pads

Brake lining is generally composed of steel plate, adhesive layer, heat insulation layer, friction material and muffler. The steel plate needs to be coated to prevent rust. During the coating process, smt-4 furnace temperature tracker is used to detect the temperature distribution in the coating process to ensure the quality. The heat insulation layer is composed of non heat transfer materials for heat insulation. The friction material is squeezed on the brake disc or brake drum to produce friction when braking, so as to achieve the purpose of vehicle deceleration and braking.

Secondly, we should know the classification of brake pads

According to the different friction materials, the brake pads are divided into metal brake pads and carbon ceramic brake pads;

Metal brake pads are divided into micro metal brake pads and semi-metal brake pads. Ceramic brake pads are classified as less metal, and carbon ceramic brake pads are used with carbon ceramic brake discs.

Finally, the braking coefficient and grade of the brake pad should be known

Friction coefficient: a parameter indicating the friction efficiency of brake pads. The coefficient of friction roughly means how sticky this piece is. The more sticky the piece is, the greater the resistance and the more sensitive the brake is. However, the worse the comfort and heat resistance are. If you step on it lightly, you will nod your head. If you step on it hard, it will burn quickly.

High temperature brake pad means that the brake coefficient can be maintained at a higher temperature, and the friction coefficient of high temperature brake pad is not necessarily large. The grade of the brake pad is expressed in two English letters. The first is to measure the friction coefficient at four points between 0 ~ 600 (315.5 ℃) Fahrenheit. If all of them can be in the range of 0.35 ~ 0.45, then the low temperature grade of the brake pad is f. Then take 10 points between 600 ~ 1112 (600 ℃) to measure the friction coefficient. If it can also be between 0.35 ~ 0.45, the high temperature level is f.

Brake classification

Now we can know which grade the ceramic brake pads belong to! Ceramic brake pads belong to FF level, which is moderate in the whole brake product.

Let's popularize it again: the friction coefficient is just a reference, and whether the brake pads are good or not has a lot to do with the friction materials! Generally, for light vehicles, such as Japanese and Korean cars, ceramic brake pads are recommended; It is recommended to use micro metal brake pads for heavy vehicles, such as Medvedev. The material of micro metal brake pad is relatively complex, and it will be formulated according to the comfort of the car. As shown in the figure below:

In fact, the best brake pad is not a "ceramic brake pad", but according to the characteristics of their own car to choose. There is no shortage of the most expensive brake pads in the world, but there are the most suitable ones for you.
