Can I Drive With Brake Pad Alarm? Don't Make Fun Of Life!

[Catalog:News] [Date:2021-3-10] [Hits:] [Return]

How important is brake to a car? Imagine how terrible it would be if a car fails to brake at high speed. The function of brake system is very important to the safety of the car, which is an important factor affecting the safety of the driver and passenger. So in the daily use process, the brake inspection and maintenance is very important.

So how to judge the brake pad state, how often to replace it, what happened to the brake pad alarm? Today we'll talk to you about the brake pads.

We all know that the brake system is very important, but we pay more attention to the condition of the engine and transmission during the maintenance, and ignore the brake system. When there is a fault or it is found that it is abnormal, we will go to repair it. Even some car owners are confused about the brake pads and brake discs.

Brake pads and discs

Brake pad, also known as brake pad, refers to the friction material fixed on the brake drum or brake disc rotating with the wheel. The friction lining and the friction pad bear external pressure to produce friction effect, so as to achieve the purpose of vehicle deceleration. It directly affects the braking effect and is an important part of the braking system.

It is generally composed of steel plate, bonding insulation layer and friction block. Steel plate shall be coated to prevent rust. Smt-4 furnace temperature tracker is used to detect the temperature distribution in the coating process to ensure the quality. The heat insulation layer is non heat-transfer material, and the friction block is composed of friction material and adhesive.

The brake disc is actually a round plate. It also turns when the car is running. The brake caliper clamps the brake disc to generate braking force. When you step on the brake, it clamps the brake disc to slow down or stop. Of course, this is what we call disc brake, and there is another kind called drum brake. Some old cars or cars with low configuration also use front pan and rear drum. But comparatively speaking, the brake disc has better braking effect and is easier to maintain than the drum brake.

After distinguishing the relationship and principle between the brake pad and the brake disc, we find that the wear rate of the brake pad is greater than that of the brake disc, so in the process of daily use and maintenance, we need to pay more attention to the status of the brake pad.

How to judge the state of brake pad

image

The brake pad is constantly rubbed during the use, and then it is constantly worn. When the wear is to a certain extent, it needs to be replaced. The easiest way to judge this standard is to alarm the brake pad, that is, the so-called brake pad wear alarm light is on.

When the brake pad is worn to the position of the brake sensing line, the yellow light will be on on the instrument panel or the Chinese characters indicating the brake pad needs to be replaced

Of course, this is a car with a brake pad wear sensor. There are usually two types of sensors. One is the built-in brake pad, that is to say, the sensing line is integrated with the brake pad. After the brake pad alarms, you can buy the brake pad and replace it.

image

The other is the split type. The brake pad and the sensing line are separated. This situation should be considered separately. If the brake pad is replaced before the brake pad alarm and the sensing line is not triggered, there is no need to replace the sensing line. If the brake warning light is triggered after the brake pad is worn to a certain extent, a new sensing line is needed.

It is also very simple to judge the brake pad state of the vehicle without sensors, because most brake pads can be judged by sound. If you can hear a hissing sound when you light the brake, you need to see if the brake pads have reached the wear limit and check and repair them as soon as possible.

There is also a more intuitive way to judge the brake pad state by feeling the change of its strength when you apply the brake. If the brake feels hard to step on, or it is not as smooth as the previous brake, the braking distance becomes longer and the pedal position is lower than before, then the brake pad may be worn seriously.
