Why does the new brake pad make abnormal noise?

[Catalog:News] [Date:2020-12-31] [Hits:] [Return]

The brake is a consumable of the car and must be replaced immediately. However, many car owners change the brake pads in the auto repair shop, resulting in abnormal noise. What's the matter? Many of the problems are due to the following points.

1. Quality problems of new brake

There are many sources of brake pads, such as original parts, OEM parts, brand parts, accessory parts, and even some fake and inferior products. Brake pads of different quality have different processing and materials, which will lead to abnormal noise to a certain extent.

In the production process, in addition to the manufacturer's insufficient control over the size and shape, once the brake plate is assembled on the vehicle, it will have poor matching, local stress concentration of the brake plate, resulting in gap width, and noise naturally generated in the braking process. If the brake material has problems, such as local hard places and impurities It also squeaks when it rubs the brake disc.

2. New brake plate without chamfer before assembly

The original brake disc and brake plate are worn between tens of thousands of kilometers, so there is a groove on the brake disc which is just the width of the old brake. When a new brake is replaced, its width is not 100% consistent with that of the brake plate, so it is easy to press the brake disc with the angle to sound.

The way to solve this problem is very simple. If you use a file to chamfer around the new brake and use the right angle as a fillet, you can avoid this situation.

3. The spring is not replaced at the same time

There are clarinets used for tightening on the brake. The structure and quantity of clarinets of different models are different. The clarinets of old circuit breakers have been used for a long time, so the fastening force is reduced. If they are not replaced or installed at the same time, the circuit breaker will shake gently in the pliers. Under such strong braking force, even if the pliers move slightly, it will make a "clack clack clack clack".

Now most used cars forget to pack, so please be careful.

4. No noise reduction grease

The function of the silencing grease is to resist high temperature between the back of the brake pad and the calipers and form elastic grease. When the brake fails, the vibration on the brake plate can be removed and the noise can be eliminated. In the original factory, the brakes are mechanically coated with silencing grease, which needs to be re coated manually when replacing. The silencing grease itself is not expensive, but this process can be omitted in the elaborate automobile repair shop.

In addition, although the inexperienced workers have applied the silencing grease, the friction coefficient decreases and the braking performance deteriorates sharply after the front face of the brake pad (the contact surface with the brake disc) is coated, resulting in safety problems. Therefore, car owners should pay attention to the operation process of working.

5. There is debris between the brake disc and brake plate.

When replacing the brake plate, if hard impurities are sandwiched between the brake plate and the brake disc, noise will be generated due to the high-strength friction between the two, which is the most common problem encountered by most vehicle owners in the process of using the vehicle. Therefore, when replacing the brake pad, please pay attention to ensure that the surface of the brake pad and the brake disc is clean. In order to prevent impurities from mixing in, please use non lipid metal cleaning agent first clean.

To sum up, the replacement process of brake pads is very fastidious. It is easy to make abnormal noise no matter the process is not rigorous or the material is not hard. As ordinary car owners, it is beneficial for us to know some car knowledge in advance.
