You Should Pay Attention To These When Changing Brake Pads!

[Catalog:News] [Date:2020-12-2] [Hits:] [Return]

Cars are now an important means of transportation for us to travel, especially now that living conditions are good and every family has a private car, do we pay attention to the wear degree of brake pads when we maintain the car? If the wear is too large, do you need to replace it? If it needs to be replaced, what degree of wear should be replaced? What kind? There are standards for these.

It can be seen from the figure that the friction material and back plate are the main components of the brake pad. Its function is a kind of friction plate which can make the car brake by friction with the brake disc.

Inspection method of brake pads:

The thickness of the new brake pad is 1cm when measured with the brake pad measuring ruler. If the brake pad is less than 3mm, it should be replaced. Usually, you can see the general situation of the brake pads through the gap of the wheel hub with a flashlight. If the thickness of the brake pad on the outside of the caliper is less than 5mm, it is necessary to remove the tire to check the brake pad on the inner cylinder side.

Precautions for selecting and replacing brake pads:

When selecting brake pads, we must look at the friction coefficient of the brake pads. The friction coefficient represents the performance index in the constant speed friction test. The friction coefficient of the brake pads of ordinary household cars ranges from 0.35 to 0.55. The greater the coefficient, the better the braking effect. The friction coefficient is marked on the brake pad package.

During replacement, attention should be paid to:

1. The friction groove depth at the edge of the brake disc. If the depth is large, it is necessary to grind the brake pad to grind the chamfer to prevent abnormal noise.

2. When the brake pad is installed, the friction material should be in contact with the brake disc. If it is installed reversely, the back plate contacts the brake disc. There will be no brake or abnormal brake sound.

3. The new brake pads with screws and accessories must be replaced with new ones, because there is screw glue on the new screws to prevent the screws from loosening.

4. After the brake pad is replaced, step on the brake for several times, and check the brake oil level after stepping on the hard brake pad. Only when the oil level is normal can the engine start driving. And when driving, you should step on the brakes more to make the brake pads and brake discs fully run in, so that the braking effect is the best.
